A polishing pad is the last and tightest layer in a filter, after sponge and floss have taken the bigger debris. This sheet measures 36 by 24 inches and only 0.12 inch thick. It is dense fiber made without glue or fluorescent additives, and you cut it to fit anything from a small power filter to a large sump.
Choose by grade: 50 micron catches the smallest particles, while 100 and 200 micron let more water through. A finer pad clogs sooner, so put it last in the chamber and rinse it when the flow drops. The pad handles mechanical work only, and bio balls or other biological media are sold separately.
