What stands behind the figures, care notes and ratings on pawfly.org, and how to tell us when something is wrong.
Where our figures come from
Air flow, tank sizes, wattage, dimensions, noise ratings and pack counts come from our own product descriptions. A figure we do not have is left out, not estimated. Prices come from our last catalog update, and how we update prices explains the schedule.
Sources behind our care notes
Notes on water quality, aeration, electrical safety, reptile heat, bird feeders and releasing animals rely on university extension services, government agencies, wildlife programs and veterinary references. Each source is opened and read before we link it, the date we read it is printed with it, and the sentence is written to say what the source says.
Ratings and reviews
Star ratings and rating counts come from customers who bought the product, as counted in our last catalog update. We do not write, edit, buy or invent reviews, and we do not put names or photos of customers on the site.
Animal health and safety
Pages that touch on animal care or electricity give general information, not veterinary or electrical advice. The instructions that came with your product come first, and a veterinarian is the right person to ask about a sick animal.
Corrections
If a figure, a fit or a care note looks wrong, write to tankside@pawfly.org with the page and what you found. We compare it with the product and the source and correct the page.
