Loose carbon and ceramic rings spill every time you open a canister. These bags keep them together in polyester mesh closed by a plastic zipper across the top. The 8 by 5.5 inch bag has 2 mm holes, small enough to hold bio balls, zeolite, crushed coral and carbon chunks, and it washes and goes back in.
Fine mesh runs from 4 by 3.5 inches to 15 by 10 inches, coarse mesh comes at 8 by 5.5, and the 8 by 5.5 inch fine bag is packed 8 to a set. Pick the size by your filter chamber, leaving room for water to move around the bag. Very fine granules can slip through 2 mm holes, and for those our 150 micron drawstring bag is the better match.
