- 5–60 gal
- 11 options
- Start with the 2 by 4.8 inch sponge for a 5 to 10 gallon betta, fry or shrimp tank.
Water drawn through the foam leaves debris in the sponge, and the sponge gives bacteria a surface to settle on once your tank is cycled. Because the intake is foam, fry and shrimp are not pulled in. The small version measures 2 by 4.8 inches for 5 to 10 gallons, and the box holds 6.5 feet of tubing, a control valve, 4 suction cups, straight and T connectors and a check valve.
Options climb from 3 to 60 gallons, so pick the size that matches your tank first. An air pump is needed and is sold separately. Squeeze the sponge under water to push the air out so it sinks, and rinse it every 2 to 4 weeks in tank water only, because tap water strips the colony you grew.
