The controller sits outside the tank, so you read water temperature and set the target on a digital display without reaching in. Rated for 5 to 10 gallon tanks, the Pawfly 50 W Submersible Heater holds a setting between 59 and 95 °F. Inside an ABS housing is a quartz glass tube with nickel-chromium wire, and the description states a cutoff at 96 °F.
Per the description, the heater also shuts off if it detects that it is out of water, and a memory keeps your setting through a power cut. A 5.9-foot cable and 2 suction cups let you place it where it suits the tank. Follow the heater's own instructions on placement, and unplug it before you lift it out or clean it.
