Winter ice on your birdbath gives way to a 9.5-inch heated zone with this Pawfly de-icer. It draws 60 W at 120 V, and a built-in thermostat switches it on when the water drops to 41 °F and holds it around 39 °F, per the description. The body is waterproof, flame-retardant PVC with a welded cable entry and heat-sealed edges, on a 5.9-foot cord.
The description states that the plug is UL-listed. Follow the product's own instructions for placement, water level and outdoor cords. It also serves poultry waterers, livestock troughs, fountains and household buckets. Where our 50 W heater has an exposed rod, this one keeps its element inside the sealed PVC body.
